Mogilev and the environs

Excursions / Mogilev

Mogilev is the main city of the Eastern Belarus on the Dnieper river. This is where the Main Military Headquarters of the Russian emperor Nickolas II were situated in 1915, the place where the emperor abdicated and was subsequently arrested in 1917. In the 30-s the transfer of the capital of BSSR from Minsk to Mogilev was being planned which is confirmed by the fact that the twin building of the Minsk Government House can be found in the centre of Mogilyov. In 1941 during World War II the famous defense of the city took place which subsequently saved Moscow.
